Mr. Fredeen served as General Counsel and Secretary to the Board, Deloitte LLP (Canada) from 2000 to 2020. In June 2020, he was appointed General Counsel Emeritus and Senior Partner, Indigenous and Accessibility, leading Deloitte’s Reconciliation and Disability initiatives both within the firm and in the Canadian marketplace. In June 2021, he retired from the partnership and now serves as Managing Director, The Return on Disability Group. Mr. Fredeen is a recognized leader in the legal profession. In 2018, he was named Canada’s Outstanding General Counsel and in 2021, he was recognized by the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association with the R.V.A. Jones Award which recognizes exceptional contributions to the development of the in-house counsel bar, and later in the same year he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the annual Canadian General Counsel Awards.

In October 2024, Mr. Fredeen was elected Chair of the Conference Board of Canada. As an active and engaged leader in the community, Mr. Fredeen has received numerous awards including the Queens Jubilee Medal (2012), and the Catalyst Canada Business Leader Award (2017).
